The Keys to Dressing your Best ... Everyday

It is important to think of these points when dressing your best even in everyday situations, there are two main things I keep in mind. The most important thing you can do is dressing specifically for your body type, and the second is proportions. Proportion can sometimes be overlooked, it truly can make or break a look. Think of any look/ outfit you put together as a balancing act–your clothes must fit right, but if you’re not also aware of your proportions the look can also fall flat. 

Here is where I share the three things to keep in mind when dressing for every look everyday. Keep these styling tips in mind the next time you get dressed, and you will look as if you have your own personal stylist.

1.     Make sure you offset looks with a slimming silhouette. If you’re wearing a top with a lot of volume or a larger cardigan, be sure to pair it with something fitted below. Or if you’re wearing a swingy skirt or wide-legged trousers, pair it with a more tailored top. Remember: Nobody looks good drowning in fabric, but head-to-toe-skin tight isn’t always a good look either. The balance of the two is the key.

2.      Pair short with long and long with short. A long jacket, coat, sweater, or blazer looks the best when paired with a shorter hem below. Wear it with a maxi and you risk looking frumpy. The more flattering choice is a shorter top when working with a longer bottom. 

3. Create an instant hourglass. A cinched waist is the easiest way to create curves and add some instant shape to your silhouette. It’s also the only flattering way to pull off volume on the top and bottom of your ensemble. Try a belt to pull your look together.
